Manager of New Product Industrialization

Position Summary: As our facility transitions and expands into new product lines, Manager of New Product Industrialization (NPI) will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing all technology activities associated with new product development and industrialization. This position manages a team of Development Engineers, Development Coordinators and Tire Design Technicians that ensures development schedule timelines are achieved through the coordination of resources, strategic collaboration with all other Business Units, and addresses issues/roadblocks proactively as they arise.

Reports to: Director of Factory Operations

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Plan, organize and direct all technology activities associated with New Product Development and Industrialization.

  • Develop, implement and enforce work procedures which ensure the release of new products with the best possible performance in a timely manner while complying with all applicable standards (internal, customer, DOT, legal, etc.)

  • Plan and schedule all testing and product monitoring activities associated with all new products.

  • Ensure product quality meets or exceeds customer, federal, environmental and other governmental requirements and standards.

  • Audit, analyze and make recommendations to ensure systems and processes are followed to solve for issues related to new product quality and uniformity.

  • Coordinate, schedule and communicate plans, activities and status updates related to new product development to plant and corporate leadership.

  • Works with Production Supervision/Management, Engineering, and other cross-functional team members to achieve mutually beneficial solutions to development schedule needs, problem resolution (equipment, personnel, scheduling, etc.), and process development.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline; exceptional experience in lieu of degree considered.

  • Masters level degree preferred

  • 4 – 6 years’ experience in a tire manufacturing technical role

  • Minimum of 3 years product design experience (tire design experience preferred)

  • Supervision/management experience

  • Ability to manage a variety of concurrent projects, ability to multi-task

  • Strong communication, business, analytical and planning skills

  • Technical knowledge related to equipment processes and operation of equipment

  • Knowledge of customer, corporate and legal requirements related to the release of new products, product quality and product evaluation

  • Experience in a union environment is highly preferred.

  • Flexibility in schedule availability is required to support continuous operations, including nights and weekends.
